Staying Connected during the Closings and Covid-19
Although the doors maybe closed, we are still connected by our faith, family, friendship and love. Watch this page for weekly readings from the Lectionary Page, updated information, websites to visit for worship and other information. Send your selfies, things you are doing when sequestered, ideas to share and we will post on this page and on the above "slide show".
NOTES FROM BISHOP MILLIKEN
WORSHIP: Although, St. Stephen’s does not have the capability to live stream, beginning this week, we will post a link so that you can view "OUR" Sunday service weekly, as well as, links for Children's Church and "Face to Face" for our youth. Also may churches, are computer links to Sunday services at places like the National Cathedral in Washington, or Trinity Church, Wall Street in NYC.
If you are a more “hands on” type I am including a service called “Spiritual Communion”. This is a worship service for individuals, or small groups, when they cannot be physically present at a Eucharist. I will have Vera also send out the Collect for the Day and the Readings for each Sunday while we are closed. Go to the "STAY CONNECTED" page of this website for the links.
In addition to these resources, you can always use the services of Morning and/or Evening Prayer in our Prayer Book. If you do not have a copy of the Prayer Book, you can download one. Vera will include this link along with the worship links. Or, if that does not work for you let us know and we will send you a Prayer Book: The clink on this link Book of Common Prayer
COMMUNICATION: During these stressful times of uncertainty, the need to stay in touch with each other is even more important. To that end, I plan on sending out a weekly video message on Facebook, beginning next week. Also, I will continue to keep Wednesday office hours.
FINANCES: Even though we will not be having Sunday or Wednesday services for the time being, nevertheless, the expenses of the church continue. We still need to pay our utilities, insurance, and salaries (the vestry voted to maintain our staff salaries until May 15th, when we will reevaluate).
